School of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Sciences Admissions Doctor of Physical Therapy Admissions Prerequisite Courses Please Note: Level of courses must be appropriate for science majors, and must have been completed within five (5) years of date of matriculation.
*AP course credit will count for prerequisite credit if it appears on a transcript, however the course will not be considered in the GPA calculation. Prerequisite coursework should be taken through the respective departments unless prior agreement has been made with the Department of Physical Therapy.
Physical Therapy Prerequisites Physical therapy prerequisite courses are intended to prepare you for professional studies within the School of Health Sciences. Applicants must have cumulative and prerequisite GPAs of 3.2 (as calculated by PTCAS) based on a 4.0 scale to be eligible to apply to the physical therapy program.
DPT Prerequisites The courses listed below provide the academic foundations necessary to enter a rigorous DPT curriculum. Applicants must receive a C or better in all prerequisite courses, as well as maintain an overall 3.0 GPA when grades from all prerequisite courses are averaged together
Prerequisite Courses To fulfill a requirement, prerequisite courses must be completed at a regionally accredited institution with a grade of C or higher. Applicants are encouraged to complete most of the prerequisites, especially core science courses, prior to submitting the DPT application.
Course Descriptions for Prerequisites. Prerequisites courses taken at 4 year institutions (listed for science majors) are preferred. Prerequisites should be taken within the past 5 years; exceptions will be considered if higher level coursework has been successfully completed in these subjects within the past 5 years.
